American Ethnographers was established in Athens, Georgia, in 2018 and is currently based out of Brookfield, Illinois. American Ethnographers defies boundaries and celebrates an eclectic set of influences with a sound firmly rooted in '70s blues-based rock, filtered through the raw energy of '90s alternative and grunge, country kissed, and incorporating hints of punk and new wave.
More than just a band, American Ethnographers is a project for social justice, hoping to be a catalyst for change, using music to shed light on the struggles faced by marginalized and oppressed peoples and to motivate listeners to take action.

Creative Transparency Statement:
American Ethnographers does not, and will not, ever use artificial intelligence (AI) in the creation of its music, lyrics, or artwork. We do, however, often use VST sample instruments (e.g. programmed drums), timing adjustment (e.g. MIDI quantization), pitch correction (e.g. VariAudio), and other human-initiated and -driven digital tools. While there is a role for AI in improving our world, it does not belong in the arts.
